Anyone who knows me will know I’m not the most well travelled person in the world. But in my defence I am only 21, I have worked full time and lived on my own since I was 18 and I haven’t felt the need to go away because I always loved my life. While I’d love to say these are the only reasons I’ve not travelled much, they are not. I get anxious about travelling, so many things can go wrong, I like planning and writing lists. My 2017 goals are to travel more and be more spontaneous, but then it hit me. I don’t have to get on an aeroplane to see beautiful beaches and sunsets, I can pop to the Isle of Wight for the weekend and get all the visual satisfaction I need.
I visited my family this weekend, and the Island certainly did not disappoint.
On the first night we went for a walk to the local beach to walk the dog and watch the sunset, this is one of my favourite places in the world. We used to come here when we were kids, and this is my number one sunset location so far. To top it off my Dad found a waterfall!
On the second day we took a trip to a beach further west, called Freshwater Bay, it was sheltered from the wind and it was actually quite hot. My 4 year old brother thought it would be a good idea to climb the cliff and he got very high on his own. I eventually joined him because while I’m willing to risk my own life, I’m not willing to risk his.
Being the terrible human I am I forced my family to take outfit shots of me to gather content while I was in a pretty location.
On the last day I visited my family, but most importantly the family dogs!
Family time is important, and so is appreciating the beauty that is around you. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, count your blessings. Stop waiting for summer or your holiday. Things are beautiful right now, you’ve just got to look for it.
Over this year I plan on going on some more adventures so stay tuned for more staycation posts and hopeful some full on travel posts!
