Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lip Review
My sister has deemed me ‘The Worst Person at Wearing Lipstick’ I get it on my teeth, I smudge it round my face and I tend to get it on my clothes. (I’m pretty clumsy, can you tell?).
I have tried loads of liquid lipsticks, high end and low end. I do love them, but I always find they dry out my lips and feel horrible after a while. I had a Bourjois rouge velvet lipstick from years ago which I loved, but never thought too much of it. It was a natural dark pink, so I saw it more as an everyday lipstick. I never gave it the attention it deserved.
As colder days were fast approaching, I wanted a darker red lip that would last all day. I needed it to survive through countless coffees and not leave me with the overwhelming nervous feeling of ‘Have I got lipstick on my teeth!?’. Boots had a 3 for 2 offer on Bourjois so I grabbed a couple of lip kits. I have a tremor in my right hand so I’m pretty useless at applying makeup to a decent standard, but the pencil makes the finish that little bit neater.
I absolutely love all of these lipsticks. The finish is lovely, it stains your lips (slightly) but it doesn’t dry them out (compared to similar products). I did find you have to be careful with how you apply them. If you put too much on too quickly they can clump and become patchy, so it’s imperative you use multiple thin layers to get the desired effect. I wear these every day now. There is so many different colours to choose from, as well as a variety of lip kits so there is something for everyone!
These are most certainly my number one lip product at the moment. They may not be the best for you if you get dry chipped lips in winter, but they are by far much more hydrating than other matt products.
