High street makeup favourites

I have never really been one for fixing things if they aren’t broken. I seem to have weird trust issues when it comes to trying new products. Recently I have been trying out new brands and I am in love!

I grew up on the Isle of Wight so I didn’t have a massive choice when it came to makeup brands. We had a boots and a small Superdrug and that was about it. Obviously as every girl did back in 2009 I went through a dream matte moose addiction. I came out the other side switching to a boots own brand tinted moisturiser. In 2013 I got a job on ‘the mainland’ (Southampton) so all of a sudden I had much more choice when it came to new products. I was also earning much better money so had the money to splash out on decent make up. The first  new makeup product I purchased was Benefit Browzings, this was the summer of 2013 and I still have the exact one sat in my draw. I loved it, I used it everyday it just lasts forever.

Jump forward to now, my day to day face is mainly high end products. This is only because I was cursed with oily skin. I blame my Itallian ancestors for that! So over the years I have worked out what works best for me.

However I have recently discovered a new favourite brand – NYX I know you’re all probably thinking ‘Amy where have you been for the last 3 years’ but like I said I stick to what I know and don’t branch out often. Trying NYX has been the best decision I made. I cannot live without the Matte setting spray, it’s an absolute dream! The collection of lipstick and gloss colours are amazing, there is basically one for every occasion. I only starting using NYX in the last month so I don’t have a massive collection, but my wish list is massive!

I have been dabbling in the art of contouring recently. I am no MUA but I sure as hell wish I was. I have the Anastasia Beverley Hills Cream Contour pallet, but wanted to try a powder one. Luckily for me LickandLashBeauty  sent me their gorgeous powder contour kit and an amazing eyeshadow pallets. I will post a picture on Instagram of how I get on with it. I’ve been using it regularly and at the moment don’t have a bad word to say about it! Have a browse through their website as I have now found loads of things I want to buy. Especially their make up storage!

I hope you enjoyed this little make up post. I’m hoping to wake up with crazy good MUA skills tomorrow so I can show you how great all these products actually work.

Thank you for reading.

Loved reading this! And can I just say your flatlays are goals! I go to university in Portsmouth and often visit your old home town the Isle of Wight, I know what you mean about being restricted haha! I am too obsessed with NYX ever since it came to the UK. I recently featured one of their AMAZING vivid brights eyeliners in my Boots & Superdrug haul on my YT channel and, yet again, I’m addicted. The lip creams are incredible too. Ok I’m gonna stop gushing now and check the rest of your blog out xo
